Oakland, CA (September 26, 2022) – Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is proud to announce its newest national partner, USA Youth & High School Rugby, the sanctioned governing body for all youth rugby in the United States and its territories. PCA is aligned with the Rugby ethos and principles of Passion, Accountability, Transparency, Inclusivity, and Integrity for All, and excited to provide the mandated coach training for rugby coaches.

“We are looking forward to a great partnership with USA Youth & High School Rugby as we work together to deliver on the promise of what youth sports can be for coaches, athletes, parents, and officials,” said Jason Sacks, President of Positive Coaching Alliance. “Youth sports is an amazing opportunity to teach life lessons and social skills, and we appreciate USA Youth & High School Rugby’s commitment to providing quality training for their rugby coaches that will foster a positive, youth development and character-building experience.”

David Pool, President of USA Youth and High School, commented “Rugby has a unique culture and set of values with the coaches being the cultural keepers of the game. Our partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance reinforces this role and provides a strong platform to continue the development of the rugby culture and the values that can be instilled in youth rugby players from positive coaching. The Positive Coaching Alliance approach adds to our key objective of youth rugby players having fun in a positive, safe environment.”

Through this national partnership, PCA will provide USA Youth & High School Rugby coaches access to online training, which will be mandated in the USA Youth & High School Rugby coaching program.  PCA’s training will be ingrained into the USA Youth & High School Rugby coaching framework as an important component to prepare rugby coaches to work with players in positive ways that impact them both on and off the pitch.  Beyond the training courses, PCA will provide USA Youth & High School Rugby content shares and resources to incorporate PCA tools into their email newsletters and social media platforms on a monthly basis.

USA Youth & High School Rugby is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, an affiliate of USA Rugby, and the Sanctioned Governing Body for all youth rugby in the United States. Catered towards players aged 5-18, USA Youth & High School Rugby’s key initiatives are to: provide a fun and safe environment for the advancement of rugby in the United States, develop well-rounded rugby community members both on and off the pitch, and be the conduit to connect the game at all levels to promote a lifelong love of the sport of rugby.
